Local High Score Tracking
In the full game on the home page, your highest climbing runs are recorded locally inside your web browser. The game maintains a top ten leaderboard stored in the browser localStorage under the key DJ_localTopScores. Each entry records the player name and the final height score achieved. By default, your name is set to "Doodler" under the key DJ_Doodle_name, which you can edit in the game-over screen after any run. If you leave the name blank, the game assigns the label "unnamed".
During active gameplay, the engine reads your local top ten list and renders visual score markers along the right edge of the screen. Each marker displays a horizontal line and the name attached to that score. As you climb, these markers provide immediate visual feedback, showing you exactly when your current run surpasses a personal milestone.
Lifetime Statistics Tracking
The game tracks comprehensive gameplay numbers in localStorage under the key DJ_stats. The statistics record:
- Game counts and scores: Total games played, personal high score, last score, and cumulative average score.
- Play time: Total time spent climbing, longest single run duration, and last game duration.
- Combat tallies: Monsters shot, monsters jumped on, UFOs shot, and UFOs jumped on.
- Jump numbers: Total jumps, maximum jumps recorded in a single game, last game jumps, and average jumps per game.
- Flight equipment: Total flights using jetpacks, propeller hats, and rockets.
- End of game causes: Missed a platform, jumped into a monster, abducted by UFO, or swallowed by a black hole.

Storage and Device Limitations
The game codebase contains no network code for user accounts, server profiles, or online leaderboards. Everything you achieve is stored solely on your local device through browser localStorage. If you switch to another computer, use a different browser, open a private browsing window, or clear your browser cache and cookies, your saved top ten scores, statistics, and unlocked achievements are permanently erased.
For gameplay techniques to unlock these achievements, see our climbing tips and our items and monsters guide. To play without tracking, try the simple HTML5 version.
