How to play Doodle Jump
Doodle Jump is an endless climbing game: the Doodler bounces automatically every time it lands on a platform, and you steer it left and right to keep landing higher. There is no finish line β the score is how high you climb before you fall off the bottom of the screen or get caught by a monster, UFO or black hole. The original game was released for phones by Lima Sky in 2009; this page runs a browser version of it.
Controls
| Action | Computer | Phone / tablet |
| Move left / right | β β arrow keys | Tilt the device, or use the on-screen < and > buttons |
| Shoot | Space or β, or click | Tap the screen |
| Full screen | F | The full-screen icon at the top |
With directional shooting turned on, a click or tap fires toward the point you touched; otherwise shots go straight up. Tilt players can calibrate the sensor from the options menu (automatic or manual). The settings button changes the on-screen arrows: show or hide them and set their size (10β200 px), margin and opacity.
What you meet on the way up
- Springs sit on some platforms and launch the Doodler much higher than a normal bounce.
- Propeller hat and jetpack carry you up for a while without touching platforms. The jetpack is rare β it can appear at most three times in one run.
- Breaking platforms crack and fall the moment you land on them, so they never give you a bounce.
- Monsters end the run if you hit them from below. Jump on top of one or shoot it to clear the way.
- UFOs abduct the Doodler if you fly too close, and black holes swallow it β steer around both.
Scores, names and achievements
Your best runs are saved in this browser as a local top 10 under your player name (βDoodlerβ until you type your own). During later runs, small score marks at the side of the screen show the heights of those best runs, so you can see when you are about to beat one. The game also tracks stats and achievements, such as breaking a set number of platforms.
Tips
- Look up, not at the Doodler: plan your next two landings while you are still rising.
- The screen wraps β leaving one side brings you back on the other, which is often the shortest way to the next platform.
- Do not count on a cracked platform; treat it as air and aim for a solid one.
- Shoot monsters early while they are still above you, and save the jetpack's height for a gap you could not cross by bouncing.
